Spot a cash shortfall weeks before it hits

Every Monday Claude reads the latest bank balances, receivables and payables, rolls your 13-week cash forecast forward, and flags any week that drops below your minimum.

    Where things are in Claude

    • CustomizeConnectors In Claude's left sidebar: connect your email and files.
    • /schedule Type it in a new Cowork task to run a prompt on a schedule.
    • Scheduled In Claude's left sidebar: what runs, to pause or change it.
  2. 01
Once for the whole company: your Microsoft admin approves Claude's Microsoft 365 connector and turns on its write tools, so Claude can save drafts and files. If connecting asks for an admin's approval, this is still to do: send them this step.
  3. 02
Before each Monday, export bank balances, open receivables and open payables from your accounting system and bank into a OneDrive folder called Cash flow, with a list of planned payments (salaries, tax, loans, large purchases) and your minimum cash level.
  4. 03
Connect Microsoft 365 under CustomizeConnectors, for OneDrive and SharePoint.
  5. 04
Type /schedule, paste this workflow's prompt and pick Weekly, Monday at 8:00.
  6. 05
It runs while your computer is on and Claude is open. A Monday it was off is skipped, so the forecast keeps last week's numbers until the next run.
Set this up on your computer: the Claude desktop app runs it.
The prompt
  1. 1
Every Monday at 8:00, roll my 13-week cash flow forecast forward.
  2. 2
  3. 3
    1. Read the newest bank balances, open receivables, open payables and planned payments in my "Cash flow" folder.
  4. 4
    2. Update a "Cash flow forecast" sheet in the same folder (create it on the first run, one column per week): opening cash, money in and money out for each of the next 13 weeks, using each invoice's due date. Put invoices that are already overdue on a separate line instead of counting on them.
  5. 5
    3. Mark every week where closing cash falls below the minimum cash level in the planned payments list.
  6. 6
    4. Write three lines on what changed since last week and why.
  7. 7
  8. 8
Only change the forecast sheet; leave the exports as they are. Mark any number you are unsure of instead of guessing.
What you get
An updated forecast with the weeks at risk marked, and three lines on what changed since last week.
