Memory is what Cowork knows. Instructions are how you tell it to behave. There are two layers, and knowing which is which saves you a lot of repetition.

Global instructions apply to every session. You set them in Settings → Cowork → Global instructions. This is where your always-true rules go — the things you'd want honored whether you're drafting an email, cleaning a spreadsheet, or writing a report. For example:
